A World of Thanks
We are in the first month of our new fiscal year and already the activity in our office has been stepped up to a feverish pace. This week four of our committees have met, plans are going forward for our Annual Awards and Recognition Dinner held in October, new partnerships are being formed, and referrals are increasing. In the first 14 days of July we have provided assistance to 43 families in crisis with another 20 in the process of receiving help. The economy is certainly having an effect on parents whose budgets have been pushed to the limits because of increased medical and out-of-pocket expenses.

There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes here, with six on our staff but also many volunteers who have dedicated themselves to helping us get the job done. Of course, we rely on our healthcare colleagues who work directly with the families in need and communicate those needs to us.

I begin this new fiscal year with such a sense of gratitude for the generosity and kindness we witness here on a daily basis from so many individuals. My deepest thanks to my hard working staff, dedicated Board of Directors, caring volunteers, and healthcare colleagues for all their steadfast devotion to our mission and the families we serve. Of course, if it weren’t for our donors--foundations, corporations, schools, organizations, and individuals--many overwhelmed families in crisis would never get the support we offer. This year we expect to serve more than 1,200 families in need.

My deepest thanks to all of you!
